What are you running from?
In a strange twist of fate, I’ve actually been sticking to my running schedule and am on-track to run my first half marathon in a few short weeks. I thought I’d share one of my running mixes that keeps me going when I really just want to sit down and watch some TV. (Seriously, when do all of the positive effects I keep hearing about start to kick in??)
Bloodbuzz Ohio – The National
If U Seek Amy – Britney Spears
Ban Bang Bang (feat. Q-Tip & MDNR) – Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.
Power – Kanye West
Magic (feat. Rivers Cuomo) – B.o.B.
Love the Way You Lie – Eminem
Tightrope (feat. Big Boi) – Janelle Monáe
Dance In the Dark (Monarchy “Stylites” Remix) – Lady Gaga
Only Girl (In the World) – Rihanna
Dance or Die (feat. Saul Williams) – Janelle Monáe
Faster – Janelle Monáe
Fire It Up – Modest Mouse
F**kin’ Perfect – P!nk
Titanium (feat. Sia) – David Guetta & Sia
Loca People (Original Mix) – Sak Noel
Fire With Fire (Digital Dog Radio Edit Remix) – Scissor Sisters
Cheers (Drink to That) – Rihanna
Maps – Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Bulletproof – La Roux
Night of Your Life (feat. Jennifer Hudson) – David Guetta & Jennifer Hudson
We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) – Rihanna
Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) – Shakira
Maybe this mix will help you stay revved up during your workout, too!
Disclaimer: this mix is not supercharged enough to trick you into thinking you aren't running. Trust me. But it does make the time go by more quickly.

A White Buffalo, Loose in SOMA
It's almost Thanksgiving! But before I become fully consumed in the holiday spirit and way too many carbs, I thought I'd post some snapshots from a little trip we took south for dinner in the Mission and to hear The White Buffalo at Slim's in SOMA. He has such an amazing voice. I attempted to capture it here.
The opening act was a peculiar fellow with a banjo -- Frank Fairfield.

Weekend Wanderings
Here are a couple of photos from a few weekends ago, when we had some sun! We wandered around Fort Mason after brunch, then headed over to 97.3's free summer concert in Golden Gate Park. Could not have asked for better weather.
Met up with SB and got a little (much needed) sun.

Listened to some music. Nice weekend! I hope this one comes soon :-/

"Muscle cars drove a truck right through my heart"
I wish Lady Gaga would do more ballads. I love Yoü And I, and I loved Speechless on her last album. Bring on the ballads, Gaga!

"Won't You Save Me San Francisco"
I just heard this song for the first time the other day while waiting in traffic to cross the Golden Gate. Amazing timing!

Obsessed
Be here now. By Mason Jennings.
Be here now, no other place to be
Or just sit there dreaming of how life would be
If we were somewhere better
Somewhere far away from all worries
Well, here we are
You are the love of my life
Be here now now, no other place to be
All the doubts that linger, just set them free
And let good things happen
And let the future come into each moment
Like a rising sun
You are the love of my life
You are the love of my life
Yeah, you know you are
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
And it's all new today
All we have to say
Is be here now
Be here now, no other place to be
This whole world keeps changing, come change with me
Everything that's happened, all that's yet to come
Is here inside this moment, it's the only one
You are the love of my life
You are the love of my life
Yeah, you know you are
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
Sun comes up and we start again
It's all new today
All we have to say
Is be here now

"And I can unscrew the stars"
I'm in love with this song after hearing it on Pandora a few days ago. I wish Blogger allowed us to post songs in here. Kind of annoying, Blogger!
I am a lady in Spain
I'll sing a haunting refrain
I am a lady from Mars
And I can unscrew the stars
I can be anything that I see
I can be anything that I Anything that I see
I am in love with a boy
Manufactured to destroy
So I shall unravel my love
Like an old red woolen glove
I can do anything I want to
I can do anything I want Anything my heart tells me to do
Tells me to do
Tells me to do
I can be anything that I see
I can do anything I want to
I can do anything I want to
I can be anything that I Anything that I see
I'll sing a haunting refrain
I am a lady from Mars
And I can unscrew the stars
I can be anything that I see
I can be anything that I Anything that I see
I am in love with a boy
Manufactured to destroy
So I shall unravel my love
Like an old red woolen glove

"They say that the fault line runs right through here"
This song is very apropos. It's not that I'm a complete earthquake virgin, it's just that I'm a little concerned about the inevitable major one. The Red Cross presentation at work on earthquake preparedness didn't help, either. Why did people have to ask so many terrifying questions? Anyway, I'm a little jumpy and have been trying not freak out every time my apartment rumbles from a passing bus or a slamming door...
