How does your garden grow?

In the beginning...I started with a big, old, dry mess. I dug everything out, and started fresh. Here is my progress over five or so weeks. You really CAN grow vegetables in window boxes, on a fire escape or balcony!   Wine corks for drainage   Rosemary, chives, and basil. They prefer to be indoors. Pansies.   Wine cork vegetable markers   Lettuce come together     Beans!     Squash and lettuce preparing for takeoff The rosemary (Mason jar on the far left) never quite took off :(   Lettuce, zucchini, peppers (these guys are struggling a bit), and beans   ONE DAY later     Three weeks later   Four and a half weeks later, after tying the squash and the beans to stakes so the peppers get a fighting chance.   Stay tuned for a flashy spread on the tomatoes, and updates on whether or not these guys produce any actual veggies ;-)

Chilly Outside, Frothy Inside

A blustery day like today makes me want to stay inside and curl up with a warm drink. Except...wait...that's right - the heater in my apartment has been broken for four days! I hope to god it's working when I get home tonight. It's been really cold in there!
